I was tired from work, so I went for a walk in the afternoon. As a continuation of yesterday's theme, I went to Kievsky (Kiev) Station Москва/Moskva, Киевский вокзал/Kievskii vokzal.
There was a large shopping mall next door (the domed roof you can see in the background is called “Evropa” (Europe)), and it was a very busy place.
I headed straight for the suburban train station at Kievsky (Kiev) Station. Unfortunately, there was no fare chart. Instead, I got a map of the lines and a timetable for the “express” trains that connect Kaluga Калуга/Kaluga, which is a suburban line, with here. First, here's the map of the lines. The time to Nara.
This is the time to Kaluga. On the way, there is Maloiaroslavets, which is impressive. Also, at the end of the branch in the lower right corner, there is Aleksin. There are many old and famous towns.
There are also suburban express trains running between Moscow and Kaluga. By the way, I don't know the price. But I think it's probably an additional charge on top of the fare.
Also, I forgot to take a photo yesterday, so I took a photo of the ticket vending machine and the screen. You choose your destination on the touch panel.
Starting from the top left, there are buttons for each station in order, moving to the right. If there are too many to fit on the screen, you can move to the next page with the “Next Page” button.
Finally, here is a map of the station. So this is where the Aeroexpress trains to Vnukovo leave and arrive.
Incidentally, the shopping mall here also has a Uniqlo store. The atmosphere is the same as in Japan. I bought a cheap T-shirt for 499R. I'll come back to buy one when the one I'm wearing now gets worn out.
PS: For details about long-distance trains and suburban trains departing from Kiev Station, please see here.

I was ordered by my boss to suddenly move to Moscow. It's been two years since I was last in Moscow, but I didn't notice many changes. However, since I'm staying for a long time this time, I had to think about living expenses.
Things I was worried about before coming - How will I manage living expenses? Will I be able to use my credit card, etc.?
Basically, I've been able to manage with my Visa card, except for places where I have to use cash. On the internet, I've seen information saying that “since the Ukraine crisis, Visa cards issued in Japan cannot be used in Russia”, but
・neighborhood supermarkets (Dixi Дикси/Diski, Magnoliia Магнолия/Magnoliia, Ya liubimyi Я любимый/Ia liubimyi)
・cafe (chocoladnitsa Шоколадница/Shokoradnitsa)
・ticket for the Aeroexpress Аэроэкспресс/Aeroekspress from the airport
(*see note at the bottom of this page)
The above places accepted my card. There is a sticker on the window at the entrance saying “Visa accepted”, so you can use it as a guide.
However, please note that there are still some places where it is not accepted.
The only place I couldn't use it was a bookshop for the humanities a little way in off Tverskaya Street. After trying to insert my card into the machine several times, I was told that it wasn't working and had to pay in cash.
The next thing is what to do in situations where you have to use cash. I've opened an account with SMBC Trust for when I run out of dollars, so I plan to withdraw money from ATMs with staff inside stores like Sberbankсбербанк (but you can only withdraw up to 7,500R at a time. It's a bit painful when you think about the fees). However, I noticed just before coming to Russia that there is something called Visa Debit. This might be easier.
*Postscript: The maximum withdrawal limit at ВТБ bank was around 100,000R.
*Postscript: Visa was also accepted at the following stores.
Supermarkets: Ашан/Ashan, Перекресток/Perekrestok, Азбука вкуса/Azbuka vkusa, Наши/Nashi
Bookstores: Moscow, Molodaia gvardiia/Molodaia gvardiia, Dom knigi/Dom knigi, U Kenravra/U Kenravra
Others: Beeline, Кофе Гауз/Kofe Gauz, Mu-Mu
*However, there are small shops and even some larger supermarkets that don't accept it (even though it says “visa OK” on the sign). You can also pay for metro tickets in cash (postscript: it became possible to use them at metro stations in autumn! Even at AKADO, where I have my internet set up, I can't use my Japanese credit card.
*Addendum: You should get a mobile phone contract in Russia (if your Japanese mobile phone can be used in Russia, that's fine too). Even with free WIFI, in most cases you will need to receive a code via SMS the first time you use it.
