This was my first trip away since returning to Russia from a long business trip that started in Serbia and ended in Central Asia. I used the weekend to go to Tomsk, a town in Siberia. My plan was to go to Siberia before the snow started to fall.
The location is like this. The time difference with Moscow is +4 hours. It is -2 hours with Japan.
There are direct flights from Moscow to Tomsk, but there are more flights to Novosibirsk, and the tickets are cheaper, so it's easier to choose. From Novosibirsk Airport, there are frequent direct buses to the capital cities of the surrounding prefectures, including Tomsk.
The bus arrives at the bus terminal next to Tomsk Railway Station.
This is the station building of the railway station.
The bus terminal. There is a sculpture like this at the entrance.
Inside the bus terminal and the timetable.
A map of the routes from Tomsk Bus Terminal.
There is approximately one bus per hour to the airport, and the journey takes 5 hours. Tickets can be purchased at the ticket office in the bus terminal, or in advance on the website. You will need your passport. It is possible to make a reservation on the day, but depending on the time of day, the tickets may sell out early, so if you know the time you want to travel, it is better to make a reservation in advance.

The bus station. It's a bit like the bus terminal in Volgoda. The location of the train station and bus terminal is the same, and although it's not in the photo, you can see the train and tracks in the back right.
After a short break en route, we arrived at Novosibirsk Tolmachevo Airport after 5 hours.
Inside the airport. As it is the hub airport for S7, it is large in scale and brightly lit even at night.
Finally, I would like to introduce a little bit about the city of Tomsk. There are many stylish wooden and stone buildings, and it is a fun place to walk around. I found the free maps for tourists that are distributed locally to be easier to read than Yandex or Google Maps. You can view them via the following link.

The city is quite large to walk around in, but there are frequent tram and bus services, so it is convenient to use these. There were retro trams running.
I saw this type of bus more often than I did in Moscow. Large buses also pass through from time to time.
The German Cultural Center. It was so beautiful, but it seemed that you couldn't go in unless you were a user of the center. What a shame.
There are several beautiful wooden buildings in the area. They were built using Siberian timber and are still in use today, but many of them are not open to the public.
For example, the famous one is the yellow-walled, red-roofed building hidden behind the trees on the left, called “Firebird Жар-птица”. It is private property, so it is off-limits beyond the gate.
The house of architect Kryachkov.
The Tomsk City Hall.
There were many stone buildings around the city hall.
Map of the old town. There were no buses in this area, so we had to walk up the slope. We should have come in the morning when we were full of energy.
The Tomsk Kremlin Museum.
